Two Canadair planes from Spain arrived this Thursday in the region of Madeira to help fight the fires that have been raging on the Portuguese island since August 14th. The Lisbon authorities implemented the European Protection Framework. Pico Ruivo, the highest point on the island, and the limited Laurissilva forest, a World Heritage Site since 1999, are on fire.
