Portugal lost to Japan 2-1

The Portuguese women’s football team lost, in Guimarães, by 1-2 against Japan in a preparation game for the World Cup which will take place in Australia and New Zealand from 20th July to 20th August.

Portugal qualified for the Women’s World Cup for the first time and is part of Group E with the United States, Vietnam and the Netherlands.

This Friday, April 7th, at the D. Afonso Henriques Stadium in Guimarães, the Portuguese National Team21st in the world ranking, measured forces with that of Japan11th nation in the world ranking, which has already become world champion in 2011 and was runner-up in 2015.

The Portuguese team ended up losing by 1-2 against the Japanese counterpart. The only Portuguese goal was scored by Ana Capeta, in the 25th minute, while the Japanese goals were scored by Yui Hasegawa, in the 36th minute, and by Mina Tanaka, in the 53rd minute.

It should be noted that on Tuesday, April 11th, the Portuguese face the WelshWales, which did not qualify for the World Cup and is currently in 31st place in the ranking.

Vânia Duarte, 22-year-old Famalicão defendercapped by the Portuguese under-23 team, admitted that the dream is to represent the senior national team and be able to be in a World Cup… and why not already this summer.
