Portugal’s dramatic drought

Time.news – According to the latest climate bulletin from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), in March 2023, 48% of Portugal was in drought conditions. The most affected areas are in the south of the country.

This image, captured by a Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite on 24 April, shows the Algarve, the southernmost region of Portugal and one of the hardest hit by drought.
