“Since his enthronement, HM King Mohammed VI has promoted the economic development of Morocco, encouraged the administrative modernization of the country and ensured its political stability,” stressed Mr. Rebelo de Sousa in a message of congratulations, on the occasion of the celebration by the Moroccan people of the 25th anniversary of the accession of the Sovereign to the Throne of His glorious ancestors.
“These elements, which are so fundamental in the uncertain world in which we live, deserve to be warmly welcomed,” he noted.
The Portuguese head of state also praised “the solid relations and deep friendship” that bind Morocco and Portugal, noting that from the historical and geographical ties, the two countries “have been able to build a mature and contemporary relationship that involves the institutions of the two states, but also the two peoples.”
He also highlighted the celebration this year of the 250th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, adding that Morocco and Portugal have been able to put their relations at the service of the two countries, but also of Africa, Europe and Euro-African relations.
“I am convinced that together we will be able to take bilateral, regional and international cooperation between Morocco and Portugal to levels unimaginable until now,” concluded Mr. Rebelo de Sousa.
