This morning, Plaza Flor de Mayo was the setting for the ceremony for the 208th Anniversary of the Declaration of Argentine Independence, led by the Mayor of Posadas, Leonardo Stelatto. In his speech, Stelatto stressed the importance of solidarity and unity among citizens to face current challenges.
“On this anniversary of Independence Day, we have to make the tradition and the contribution that each of us can make as citizens, as patriots that we have to be every day,” said Stelatto, emphasizing the need to work together to solve the community’s problems. He also stressed that there is still much to do and that the key is to stay united.
The mayor also referred to the difficulties that many residents are experiencing due to the weather conditions and the economic situation. “In these cold days, the need to be there for the people is felt more strongly. We must always be there for the citizens, especially in these difficult times,” he said.
Stelatto stressed that solidarity is essential for the growth of a nation, a province and a city. “Solidarity is a fundamental word in the growth of a country, a province and a city, so we must always keep that in mind,” he said.
At the municipal level, Stelatto stressed that collaboration and joint efforts are essential to resolve pending problems and improve the situation. “We have to be very close, very united and always thinking of others. There are people who are not doing well and we have to be there, collaborating and consolidating efforts to resolve pending issues,” he said.
Finally, the mayor was optimistic about the future and the capabilities of the leaders to move the country forward. “We have a very rich country in every way: the natural wealth of the land, the people we have, and we trust in the ability of all the leaders to move this country forward. Each one of us must make his or her contribution so that the construction is always positive,” concluded Stelatto.
Assistance for homeless people in cold weather
For her part, Yolanda Asunción, municipal coordinator of the municipal cooperation and management unit, spoke about assistance to homeless people, especially in these days of low temperatures. “Yes, the truth is that we are not used to so much cold. Last night we were working, sheltering homeless people and also those who are not, because there are people who emigrate from different municipalities and they also need to be sheltered so that they can spend the night in a warm and safe manner,” explained Asunción.
The coordinator mentioned that municipal urban assistance is available 24 hours a day and is organized in conjunction with social development and human rights. «Municipal urban assistance runs 24 hours a day. We have a protocol organized with social development and human rights. When we have a situation, we communicate so that assistance is fast and efficient for each of the neighbors,» she explained.
Asunción stressed that the greatest demands include shelter, food assistance and medical care. “The greatest demand is shelter, food assistance and we also have medical demand. We are working with the assistance provided by Public Health to offer comprehensive assistance in health, merchandise and shelter,” she added.
Finally, the coordinator called on the community to contact the municipality in case of need. “If someone needs help, they can call the municipality’s 0800 number, which is a rotating line that immediately reports the situation to provide assistance, whether on the street or in the hospital,” concluded Asunción.
