(ANSA) – TEL AVIV, 11 AUG – Israeli security sources reported that a potential ceasefire and hostage release agreement could be finalized during Thursday’s talks in Cairo or Doha. Channel 12 confirmed the participation of Hamas negotiators, enabling mediators to shuttle between the two sides. Hamas announced later that it would not be sending its own negotiators to the August 15 talks. According to a report on Channel 12, Qatar had previously sent a document containing Israeli clarifications on various contentious issues to Hamas ahead of the talks. It is believed that an agreement could be finalized by Thursday between Israel, the United States, and Egypt regarding the agreements for the Philadelphia corridor along the Gaza-Egypt border and the Rafah border crossing. The mediators have accepted Israel’s demand that Hamas not be a party to this agreement. Israel considers security procedures along the Gaza-Egypt border to be crucial in preventing Hamas from resuming its arms imports and bolstering its military capabilities.
