BOLZANO. The reorganization of Poste Italiane must not have a negative impact on services and the staff situation in Alto Adige. The President of the Province Arno Kompatscher drew attention to this aspect in an online discussion with responsible representatives of the Post Office.
Several parties expressed concern that service, staffing levels and the employment situation of postal workers could worsen. Kompatscher and the general secretary of the Province Eros Magnago reminded Luca Passero, post director responsible for Alto Adige, Emanuele Fontana (Head of the Milan Roserio Postal Mechanization Center, Poste Italiane), Luigi Antonio Madeo and Matteo Magnaghi (Institutional Relations) the agreement with Poste Italiane, extended to the end of the year.
Kompatscher asked to continue to guarantee the quality standards required by it. Included are the reopening of closed post offices and shorter waiting times at some post offices.
Representatives of Poste Italiane illustrated the current situation reorganization of logistics and explained that various improvement measures are underway in South Tyrol, which make the company more attractive for the staff. For example, several part-time positions are transformed into full-time positions and fixed-term contracts are transformed into permanent contracts. These are just some of the measures adopted to guarantee both the delivery services promised in the agreement and sufficient staff for postal services in Alto Adige, as stated by the post office managers.
The convention is based onMilan agreement of 2009, under which the Province covers the costs of shipping and delivery services in South Tyrol, while the postal service undertakes to provide a series of additional public services. The agreement between the Province and Poste Italiane SpA provides, among other things, for the maintenance of quality standards and post offices, the regular delivery of postal products, including the delivery of newspapers six days a week until 1pm at the latest , the sorting of letters at the sorting and distribution center in Bolzano and a greater commitment to respect for the environment, sustainability and bilingualism.
