Erode,

In Erode East block, there are 353 people including 321 people above 80 years of age and 32 people with disabilities. They were given the opportunity to register by postal vote without going to the polling station.

A list of such persons was received from last 4th to ensure 100 percent voting and a separate form was obtained from them. These works were done under the leadership of Kumaran, Special Deputy Collector of Social Security Scheme.

Yesterday, 6 committees were formed to collect postal ballot from those who registered for postal vote. With police protection, they went to the voters’ homes and got them to register the postal ballot. Again, the box was brought to the Erode Corporation office and kept safe.

Votes are being collected today (Friday) from those who were not at home yesterday. If they are not there today, they will come home again on the 20th. If that voter is absent on that day, they will not be given another chance.

Also, during the polling on 27th, they will not be given the opportunity to go to the polling station and cast their votes, said the Election Division officials.
