This Tuesday (4th), the Denunciation Dial released a poster asking for information leading to the arrest of Gabriel Lucas de Almeida da Silva, known as Tartaruga, 34 years old. He is suspected of being part of a gang that steals fuel from pipes in Nova Iguaçu, in Baixada Fluminense.

According to the investigations, the group practices the crime through sophisticated machinery and handled by specialists in oil and derivatives. In a single theft, criminals would have made a profit of BRL 300,000 in 2022.

In addition to causing great financial losses, fuel theft poses a real risk of leaks, fires and explosions. In 2019, one girl died of severe burns, in Duque de Caxias, after falling into a puddle of fuel.

Justice issued a preventive arrest warrant for the crime of theft against Gabriel Lucas. He was even arrested in 2017, when, along with other cronies, he stole oil from pipelines located in Cachoeira de Macacu, in the metropolitan region.
