Poster for the 52nd edition of the International Cervantino Festival is revealed

On the afternoon of this Thursday, July 4, the official poster of the International Cervantino Festival for its 52nd edition, which was created by the designer Jasmine Bedolla Garcia and which celebrates, on this occasion, the cultural richness and artistic diversity of its guests of honour: Brazil and Oaxaca.

This poster, created by the graphic design student at the University of Guanajuato, “captures the essence of both regions (Brazil and Oaxaca)symbolizing unity and cultural exchange”. And it is inspired by two undeniable traditions: the Tiliches from Putla Villa de Guerrero, in the Sierra Sur region of Oaxaca, and the Bumba-My-Ox (Hit my ox) from the Maranhão region, Brazil.

About it, Mariana Aymerich Ordonezdirector of the International Cervantino Festival and Cultural Circuits, said that “Jasmine’s image captures the traditions of Oaxaca and Brazil in color, and also studied the cultures in depth, which allowed her to reflect the guests of honor very well.”

For its part, Claudia Susana Gomez Lopezrector of the University of Guanajuato, stressed that the image of Jasmine is original and comes from complete documentation and knowledge of history, “of the knowledge of both the state and the guest country”. Along the same lines, Adriana Camarena de Obesodirector of the State Institute of Culture of Guanajuato, stressed that thanks to Mariana “a vein has been opened to show this Guanajuato talent through the graphic identity of the festival”, and concluded by hoping that this edition “be extremely cheerful”.

The author of the poster, in addition to public recognition, was awarded a cash prize of 30 thousand pesos.
