by time news

The Postiglione Carabinieri station is at risk of closure due to the inadequacy of the premises. Faced with this possibility, the municipal administration has decided to intervene to save a fundamental garrison for the safety of the territory.

The Prefecture of Salerno has reported the critical issues of the current headquarters, highlighting how the conditions of the building were no longer in compliance with the standards required for a Carabinieri barracks. Faced with this scenario, the risk of losing this important service for the community was concrete.

The intervention of the municipal administration

The municipal administration, led by the mayor Carmine Cennamoimmediately started the procedures to find a solution. Given the impossibility of building a new barracks from scratch, it was decided to the purchase of a private property located in Via San Vito.

The property, valued on the market at 236,188 euros, was proposed by the owners at a discounted price of 150,000 euros. This offer, considered appropriate by the administration, takes into account the renovation work necessary to adapt the building to the needs of the barracks.

The Municipality has estimated in the total costs of the operation were approximately 150,000 euros, including the purchase of the property and renovation work. To cover this expense, the institution intends to take out a mortgage.
