If you are a Nintendo fan, you may add an extra to the hatred that you surely feel for Covid-19, and that is that, because of this disease, they delayed the opening of the first Nintendo theme park in the world.

In Tokyo, Japan, is where the magic was supposed to happen, and the Universal Studios Japan theme park opened its doors, with its new Nintendo video game area, but the opening was delayed due to the new declaration of a state of emergency due to Covid-19. 19.

“It will be postponed until the state of emergency is lifted,” read a statement from the park operators, without yet deciding or reporting a new opening date.

It is not the first time that fans have seen the time to enjoy the place move away, the initial opening date was scheduled for last July, thus coinciding with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but the situation with the coronavirus did not allow it and it was postponed to this February 4th.

Now, the date on which the “Super Nintendo World” will open its doors is unknown, since according to reports, a new one will be announced after the end of the state of emergency in which Osaka is located, currently scheduled until February 7.

The Osaka prefecture was recently included in a new emergency declaration in Japan due to the acceleration of the rise in positive cases of the coronavirus and which will affect 11 of the 47 provinces of the archipelago.

Meanwhile, curiosity about the park continues to increase, what do we know about it so far?

It will be dedicated mainly to the Super Mario Bros. franchise, Super Nintendo World was officially shown in more detail on December 19 through a Nintendo Direct broadcast, by the “father of Mario”, Shigeru Miyamoto.

Thus, it was learned that the thematic area is a full-scale recreation of different scenarios from the platform games starring Mario that will be interactive and also has an attraction inspired by karts that emulates the popular driving game of the franchise.

If the opening had occurred in 2020, it would have coincided with the 35th anniversary of the launch of the game “Super Mario Bros”, which went on sale in Japan on September 13, 1985.

We already said it at the beginning and now we emphasize it, this will be the first theme park in the world to host attractions linked to the company, but similar areas are also expected to be inaugurated in the future at its facilities in California and Orlando (United States), and Singapore.

Among the attractions, there is a “Mario Kart” roller coaster, a carousel inspired by the friendly green dinosaur Yoshi, and interactive attractions where visitors can hit blocks to earn coins.

There will also be interactive areas that work with a special bracelet that has NFC technology called Power-Up Band, about which not much has been revealed.
