The 33rd round of the French league continues tonight (Wednesday), and the focus is on quite a few quite intriguing games. Focus: Marseille beat Nantes 2: 3 and postponed the Paris championship celebrations. In addition, Strasbourg defeated Ran 1: 2 in the summit game and Lyon surrendered 2: 1 to Brest.
Marseille – Nantes 2: 3
The hosts knew that losing their points and Paris’ win over Angers would win the team from the capital the championship, and they did not intend to let that happen tonight. Despite a good opening by the visitors from the center of the table who took the lead in the 26th minute from a goal by Andrei Giroto, Dimitri Payet made sure to equalize from the spot in the 39th minute. Two minutes passed and Nantes regained the lead, but another Fayette penalty and Amin Harit’s winning goal opened a six-point gap in second place.
Monaco – Nice 0: 1
In a battle between two staring at third place, the team from the Princesses overcame the one from the Riviera. The one who made all the difference was Alexander Golovin who was in the right place and at the right time, took control of the rebound wide and sent the ball inside. Thanks to the victory, Monaco raised its balance to 56 points and with its fourth consecutive victory passed in the table over Nice itself, with 54 points.
Brest – Lyon 1: 2
The visitors recorded a critical loss in the battle for Europe and are now seven points away from fifth place. The hosts recorded three important points that put them in 12th place and kept them 11 points away from the line. Steve Mooney gave Brest the lead in the 27th minute. Musa Damla equalized in the 72nd minute but two minutes later Irwin Cardona regained the lead and set up the game.
Reims – Night 1: 2
They are both in a not very good time, but tonight the host managed to smile a little. Already in the 32nd minute Reims took the lead from a goal by Marshall Montsey, but Rento Sanchez sent an impressive kick in the 57th minute and balanced the result. However, Reims achieved the victory in the end, after Younis Abdelhamid scored a dramatic goal in the 92nd minute and awarded the three points. Anyway, Lille is still in the belly of the table, with 48 points, while Reims with 40 points.
Strasbourg – Run 1: 2
Tonight’s summit battle provided a great and close game, at the end of which the hosts clung to the visitors with 56 points in the battle for third place (also Monaco with 56). Habibu Diallo started with a goal already in the fourth minute. Martin Trier equalized in the 54th minute and Ludovic Ajurka set up the game in the 77th minute.
