Pothencode Sudheesh Murder: Sudheesh Murder; First accused and third accused arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: The main accused in the Sudheesh Murder case have been arrested in Pothencode. The first accused Sudheesh Unni and the third accused Muttai Shyam were arrested by the police at Vembayam Chathampad. Muttai Shyam is the brother-in-law of the slain Sudheesh. The accused were nabbed when they returned to Pothencode after absconding in Tamil Nadu. Sudheesh was hacked by Unni. Only the second accused Rajesh is yet to be arrested.

Police take decisive action in Pothencode Sudheesh murder case The main accused were arrested within five days of the incident. Unni is the first accused to attack Sudheesh and amputate his leg. He was the one who got on the bike with the severed leg and threw it away. Earlier, police had nabbed Sachin, Arun, Suraj, Jishnu, Nandu, Shibin, Nandish, Nidheesh and Ranjith, all members of the gang. Police also seized the Passion Pro bike, which the group escaped after the murder. The controversy over the sale of cannabis led to the barren murder that rocked the country.

Sudheesh had earlier attacked Unni, one of the accused, and two friends in connection with a dispute over the sale of cannabis. Sudheesh’s gang dropped a homemade bomb on Unni’s mother that day. Sudheesh was attacked and killed by a group led by Unni in retaliation. Sudheesh was hiding in a house in Kallur when the attackers arrived. Sudheesh’s sister’s husband Shyam showed the house to the attackers. Sudheesh had earlier tried to bomb and kill his sister’s husband. It was this animosity that was behind Ott.

Unni and Shyam went into hiding in Mandakkad, Tamil Nadu after the incident. From there we reached Pothencottam last night. Later Vempadam hid in a house in Chathampattu. The Pothencode CI-led police team cordoned off the house following a tip-off and subdued the accused. Their arrest was recorded. The arrested accused will be brought to the spot tomorrow and the police will take evidence. Police have intensified their search for the second accused Rajesh. Sudheesh, a native of Chembakamangalam, Mangalore, was attacked and killed by a group of 12 persons on a bike and an auto at his home in Pothencode College around 2.30 pm on Saturday.

The police found that the accused had been drinking together in Sasthavattam before and after the murder. According to the arrested accused, they went into hiding after removing the weapons used in the murder.
