Mandus, which has weakened to a cyclonic storm over Southwest Bay of Bengal, will make landfall near Mamallapuram between Puducherry and Sriharikota at midnight today, the Meteorological Department said.

Cyclone Mandus is stationed at a distance of 170 km from Chennai in the south and southeast direction. Cyclone Mandus is located about 135 km south-east of Mamallapuram. The speed of Cyclone Mantus in the Bay of Bengal has increased from 13 to 14 kmph.

In this situation, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Chairman Rajesh Lakhani said in a press conference:-

As Cyclone Mandus makes landfall, there will be power outages in the affected districts. Electric poles, JCP machine etc. equipments are placed as per requirement. Power cut should be done only at necessary places. He said that electrical workers have been kept on standby in districts including Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram.
