Power outage in several communities – Cause was a defect in the Axpo power grid
On Thursday night, seven municipalities experienced a power outage. Several municipalities were without electricity for over an hour. Apparently, there was a technical defect in the Axpo network.
On Wednesday at 11:15 PM, Alertswiss reported that there had been a power failure in the Fricktal. The power supplier for this region is AEW Energie AG.
The power outage lasted over an hour in the Fricktal.
According to a press release from AEW, the following municipalities were affected: Möhlin, Rheinfelden, Wallbach, Zeiningen, Arisdorf (BL), Magden, and Olsberg. The power outage began on Wednesday at 10:53 PM and lasted until 12:15 AM.
In response to inquiries from CH Media, AEW stated that the fault was in the upstream network provided by Axpo. This network was no longer supplying electricity. Axpo referred to a technical defect, which lasted about 40 minutes.
Open-air cinema without power
Approximately 4,000 households were without electricity for over an hour. As reported by the “Neue Fricktaler Zeitung”, the open-air cinema in Rheinfelden, located on the grounds of the Feldschlösschen brewery, was also affected by the power outage. The film screening on Thursday evening had to be interrupted.
