Powerball Jackpot Soars to $1.08 Billion with Winning Ticket Sold in Southern California

BOSTON – Powerball fever has finally come to an end as a lucky winner claims the $1.08 billion jackpot. The winning ticket was sold in southern California, bringing joy to one fortunate individual or group.

Wednesday night’s drawing revealed the winning numbers – 7, 10, 11, 13, 24, with the Powerball being 24. This combination proved to be life-changing for the ticket holder(s) in southern California.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Las Palmitas Mini Market in Los Angeles. Now, the lucky winner(s) face the decision of taking a lump sum payment of $558.1 million or opting for an annuity to claim the full $1.08 billion. It’s a tough choice to make, but either way, the prize is life-altering, before taxes, of course.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Los Angeles County has produced a billion-dollar Powerball winner. In November, a man struck it rich with a ticket purchased at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, winning a world-record Powerball jackpot of $2.04 billion.

Meanwhile, back in Massachusetts, there were three lucky winners who claimed $1 million each. These fortunate individuals made their purchases at the Shaws in Franklin, the Pride station and store in Hadley, and the Global Montello in Waltham. Although they didn’t win the grand prize, they are certainly celebrating their newfound wealth.
