A powerful DDoS attack was carried out on the Novaya Gazeta website, as a result of which the newspaper’s page was blocked. Kirill Martynov, editor of the newspaper’s policy department, announced this on Twitter. “Our election work is well appreciated,” he wrote ironically.

The publication’s Telegram account informs that the site was attacked at 14.45 Moscow time, and at first dealt with it, but then its power increased: “The traffic reached 3 gigabits per second. They tried to open the Novaya Gazeta website up to 550 thousand times per second.” … After some time, the hackers figured out the server’s address and attacked its IP addresses directly.

Later, the Novaya team wrote on Facebook that the site’s work was restored, but after a while it reported that it was subjected to a new, even stronger attack – this time its capacity was 10 gigabits per second (that is, 1.2 million requests per second ).

Before the site was restored, Novaya Gazeta published news on its social networks.
