Tehran: 5 killed in rubble after powerful earthquake hits southwestern Iran; 19 people were injured.

In this regard, Iran’s state media said, “A powerful earthquake occurred in the south-western part of Iran today. The earthquake registered 6.0 on the Richter scale. The earthquake was centered in Hormozgan province in Iran.

In this earthquake, houses and buildings collapsed and 5 people were killed in the debris. 19 people were injured and hospitalized. Many houses were damaged by the earthquake. Rescue work is going on,” it said.

Iran was hit by two powerful earthquakes last November. One of them died. Many houses were damaged. In 1990, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake killed about 40,000 people.
