First conversations and only one face-to-face meeting between PP and Vox to reach a government agreement in Guadalajara, in addition to two phone calls. Both formations deny that there is a closed pact, as some media are publishing today and clarify that there are still days for negotiations. They also deny the published information that affirms that there is already even a distribution of departments. “There is nothing closed or fixed,” say PP sources. On the part of Vox, they assure that “the hand is extended” to reach an agreement that “benefits the citizenry” but “respecting Vox voters.”

In the last municipal elections, the PSOE of Alberto Rojo managed to obtain one more mayor than in those of 2019, which are not enough for an absolute majority of 13 councilors in the provincial capital. On the other hand, the sum of the 9 PP councilors of the candidacy led by Ana Guarinos with the 4 of Vox, led by Javier Toquero, do give the sum for this agreement.

After knowing the electoral results on May 28, Ana Guarinos stressed that she was “absolutely convinced” that there will be a “center-right” government in the city. “The center-right of Guadalajara is in a position to govern the city,” she announced on election night. “The citizens of Guadalajara have opted for change at the polls and to change the course of the city. Thank you, thank you and thank you with all my heart, ”she declared.

Ana Guarinos is the general coordinator of the PP Castilla-La Mancha and has been the vice president of the regional courts in the last legislature. She has also been a councilor in the capital Guadalajara and also in Molina de Aragón. Javier Toquero, for his part, is a technician in Fire Protection Systems and vice president of the Provincial Executive Committee of Vox Guadalajara. He is also a councilor in the City Council.

Vox sources assure, however, that “everything may or may not change in four days” and maintain that there is still time for negotiation until June 17, the date on which the city councils are constituted. The still acting mayor Alberto Rojo has already confirmed that he will present his candidacy for the investiture, despite not having enough support.
