jpnn.com – Democratic Party Spokesperson (PD Spokesperson) Irwan Fecho supports the position of Democrat General Chair Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) appreciating the decision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto regarding the policy of increasing the value added tax (VAT) rate by 1 percent, from 11 to 12 percent only for goods and luxury services starting January 1, 2025.
AHY previously appreciated Prabowo’s decision to only impose a 12 percent VAT rate increase on luxury goods and services. He also emphasized that the Democratic Party is committed to overseeing the implementation of the stimulus package so that it is right on target.
Regarding this, Irwan stated that the increase in VAT to 12 percent, which only applies to luxury goods and services, is a form of consistency in Prabowo’s support for small and medium-sized people.
“Only being imposed on luxury goods and services is a consistent form of President Prabowo’s support for small and medium-sized people,” said Irwan in a press release, Tuesday (31/12/2024).
Irwan encouraged the government to accelerate equitable development in underdeveloped, frontier and outermost areas (3T) after the implementation of the VAT increase policy.
“We also encourage the government after the increase to accelerate equitable development in underdeveloped, frontier and outermost areas (both) in infrastructure, electricity, clean water, etc.,” he said.
The chairman of the DPD Democratic Party of East Kalimantan (Kaltim) said that the decision to increase VAT to 12 percent was taken after coordinating with the DPR RI.
He believes that increasing VAT to 12 percent for luxury goods and services will improve social programs, both in the form of public services and direct cash assistance, to people who really need it at this time.
Democratic Party spokesman Irwan Fecho assesses that the 12 percent VAT policy for luxury goods is proof of President Prabowo Subianto’s consistent support for the small people.
