The weekend will be on duty at Praça Ary Coelho, downtown Campo Grande, where tests for the diagnosis of hepatitis B and C, HIV and syphilis will be carried out. More than 800 free exams are planned for the STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections) team.
In the previous weekend, 212 people were examined, 11 with a positive diagnosis for syphilis and three for hepatitis C. All received guidance and were referred for treatment.
The technical manager of Hepaties at IST, Eliane Maria da Silva, explains that itinerant actions take place every weekend, but this month of July they are concentrated in Praça Ary Coelho, an area with a large circulation of people in the Capital.
According to Sesau (Municipal Health Department), in the country, five types of viral hepatitis circulate, but in Campo Grande the most common are viruses B and C, which can be transmitted sexually, or in the case of Hepatitis B through lesions.
Hepatitis B can be prevented through vaccine, available in the public health network. Another way to avoid the disease is the sterilization of materials and the use of condoms.
