Pranav Anand is the 76th Grandmast of India – Dinamani

by time news

Pranav Anand (15), a young chess player from Bengaluru, Karnataka, became India’s 76th Grandmaster.

He became a grandmaster late on Thursday night after he reached the 2,500 elo mark at the ongoing World Youth Chess Championship in Romania.

A chess player must reach 2,500 elo points and have two favorable results (norm) in 3 matches of 9 rounds each to become a Grandmaster. Pranav, who fulfilled the necessary ‘norms’ in the Biel Chess tournament held in Switzerland last July, has reached the number of yellow points in this competition.
