(www.kvartha.com) The demise of the unique talent Prathap Pothan, a prominent actor, director and writer, will be a great loss to the South Indian film world. In 1980, when he was in the 8th standard, Kasaragod watched the movie ‘Chamaram’ alone in the Milan theater, except for Pratap Pothan, all the other actors were familiar from other movies.

The plot of the story revolves around Vinod (Pratap Pothan), a college student from a rich family born in the town, who falls in love with Indu (Serena Wahab), a lecturer who reluctantly has to stay away from his hometown lover Ravi (Ratish) and the countryside.

In 1978, another romantic hit film directed by Bharathan himself, ‘Rathinirveda’, ‘Chamaram’ was a campus romantic film that was loved by the people, especially the youth and college students, rather than the film that immortalized Pappu, who fell in love with a neighborhood sister who was five or six years older than him. I was very proud to know that Pratap Pothan aka ‘Vinod’ was not acting but living in that movie, the story was written by the famous writer and screenwriter Balakrishnan Mangat, and even now my mind is blown that the ending of the story was a tragedy.

‘Kokarekko’ from Aaravat and ‘Takara’ from Takara, the acting skills and acting skills of that unique talent will be recognized by any common man. Part of the ‘Madras Players’ theater troupe, Pratap Pothan Barnardshaw’s play is on the verge of smashing the stage, and comes to the attention of the famous director Bharathan, who is known for making everything he touches. Bharathan made his debut in the movie ‘Aravam’ and the actor never looked back after his acting excellence.

Fans have given his films a selekative status because of his poetic and romanticism filled with passion, and he has always been a living character in the minds of the audience. Prathap Pothan, who took a hiatus in 1995, returned to the film world in 2005 and was welcomed by the audience with open arms. It was the best dance ever. A pinch of tears in the demise of that great talent..
