jpnn.comJAKARTA – Minister of State Secretary Pratikno explained that the Government has not issued a Presidential Decree (Keppres) on the Relocation of the Capital City to the Indonesian Capital City because it is taking into account a number of variables.

“Not yet, it has not been issued. The Presidential Decree for the relocation of the nation’s capital city has many variables that must be calculated,” said State Secretary Pratikno in Jakarta, Thursday.

One of the variables that needs to be considered, he said, is the inauguration of the elected candidate pair in the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Election which must be held in the nation’s capital.

“The presidential inauguration must be held in the nation’s capital. So, if there is a presidential decree on the transfer, it means that the place for the inauguration of the new president and vice president must also be ready. So, there are many things to consider. Until now, the presidential decree has not been issued,” he said.

Regarding the possibility that the inauguration of the elected Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidate Pair of the Republic of Indonesia will still be in Jakarta, Pratikno could not confirm this.

“We’ll see,” he said.

Based on records, President Joko Widodo on July 8, 2024 stated that the issuance of the IKN Presidential Decree depends on the progress of development in the IKN.

President Widodo said that the presidential decree could be issued by the current government or the next government.

State Secretary Pratikno revealed the reason the government has not yet issued a presidential decree regarding the transfer of the nation’s capital to the IKN.
