MAINTENANCE – Dr Olivier Delattre, pediatrician and oncologist, is the winner of the Inserm 2022 grand prize. He takes stock of the progress and challenges of his specialty.
The Inserm grand prize is awarded each year to a French researcher whose work has led to remarkable progress in health research. For this 2022 edition, it was given to Dr Olivier Delattre, who has devoted his career to advancing knowledge of childhood cancers.
A pediatrician by training, Olivier Delattre quickly embraced research and today directs the Siredo center (care, innovation, research, in oncology for children, adolescents and young adults) which he founded in the Curie institute, as well as the Inserm cancer, heterogeneity, instability and plasticity unit. With his team, he notably discovered crucial genetic alterations in several cancers: Ewing’s sarcoma, rhabdoid tumors, and neuroblastoma.
