A Friend of the Family is the name of the miniseries of Universal+ which brings together the facts that gave rise to the case of Jan Broberg, The eldest daughter of a family that placed their trust in Robert “B” Berchtoldonly to take advantage of the situation and kidnap Jan on multiple occasions.
The person responsible for this production is Nick Antoscawho is also escritor, showrunner y executive producer of the same and that has already become a reference for the genre of True Crimethanks to his work on programs such as Candy y The Act, where the issue of crimes committed by figures of the sociedad which turned out not to be what they seemed.
“The limited series features great performances from the stars Jake Lacy, Colin Hanks, Anna Paquin and the young actresses Mckenna Grace and Hendrick Yancey, who play, in two different periods, Jan Broberg, the victim who suffered firsthand the abusive actions of Berchtold”, declared Universal in a statement.
In this series, set in 1974, Jan Broberg actswho said: “The most important thing for me was to tell our story in a way that people could relate to, to see us as the multifaceted human beings we were in our normal, loving family.
“We were all trying to do the best we could in the world. We were people unprepared, trusting, kind e imperfect. Our parents loved us and we knew and loved our community and our neighbors. We were all manipulated and groomed, and every flaw was exploited by a ‘family man’ we met at church.”
A Friend of the Family, will premiere on August 14 by Universal.
