When the question arises as to how much importance the ruling party places on resolutions passed at meetings of the opposition, these resolutions all simply go away. It is not known how much importance the DMK government will give to the resolutions passed at the meeting of the Temujin District Secretaries.
But a name that shocked party volunteers rang out at the Temujin district secretaries’ meeting. The district secretaries, who chanted the name Premalatha, insisted that he should be made the party leader or acting leader.
Temujin was fine as long as Vijaykanth was active. His wife Premalatha and brother-in-law Sudheesh have taken over the party after he fell ill and withdrew from active politics.
A section of party volunteers are protesting that the party’s image is being eroded day by day. In this situation, the district secretaries have reiterated that Premalatha should be the leader of the party.

At a meeting of Temujin district secretaries held late last year, demands for fresh blood transfusions were strongly put forward for Temujin. There were calls for Premalatha to make Vijayakanth the acting leader and for his son Vijaya Prabhakaran to hand over the youth.
However, Tamil Nadu political circles say that Premalatha is likely to be declared as the Temujin leader or acting chairman soon after the demand was raised again at the district secretaries’ meeting which has now taken place.
