On the other hand, the delegation of the Police Basketball Club left the city of Zakho after the intervention of security personnel who accompanied the delegation until it left Zakho safely in order to avoid attacks by the Zakho fans, who had been waiting for a long time outside the hall after the crowd riot that accompanied the match between Zakho and the police in the Premier Basketball League competitions.
Police media coordinator, Atheer Al-Shuwaili, told Agency, “Zakho fans attacked the police players and seriously injured some of them. The match was stopped six minutes before its end, and the result of the match indicated a police lead of 69-61 points.”
The first spark of events began after a provocative move by one of the professional police players, which aroused the anger of the Zakho fans.
