Chelsea favorite Cole Palmer ensured a 1-0 lead for the blue shirts, but otherwise there were few bright spots in the match for the home crowd at Stamford Bridge.
Matheus Cunha equalized a few minutes later. In the second half, the Brazilian scored twice more and thus a hat trick. In the end it was 4–2 – after an own goal by Axel Disasi and a consolation goal by Thiago Silva.
It took a long time before Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino appeared for his post-match press conference, according to Football London.
– None of us are good enough at the moment. That’s the reality and applies to me too. What we show today is not good enough. We didn’t handle the situation well enough. Nobody is safe, says Pochettino – probably referring to his own position as Chelsea manager.

The 2–4 loss was Chelsea’s tenth league defeat of the season. At the same time, it was Wolverhampton’s first win at Stamford Bridge since 1979 (2–1).
– You will be fired tomorrow, echoed from the away supporters in Pochettino’s direction.
The home fans were naturally not happy.
– It is important to understand the fans. I’m sorry. We are disappointed, just like them, but we must stick together and fight. We have to work together during the match to get good results, says Pochettino.
The London team has now conceded four goals in two games in a row. In the previous series round, they lost 1–4 away to Liverpool.
Chelsea is currently in 11th place. They have a whopping 20 points up on league leader Liverpool. The teams will meet in the league cup final on 25 February.
