Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League, at least temporarily, by beating Bournemouth 3-0 in a match on the fifth day of the competition. Meanwhile, Aston Villa beat Wolverhampton 3-1, while Chelsea defeated West Ham 3-0 away, and Crystal Palace drew 0-0 with Manchester United.
At Anfield, Liverpool had no problems in beating modest Bournemouth 3-0, with a brace from Colombian Luis Díaz and the remaining goal from Uruguayan Darwin Nuñez. Alexis Mac Allister was also a starter for the Reds. Thanks to this victory, Liverpool has now reached the top spot with Manchester City, who will play Arsenal this Sunday.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa – with Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martínez as a starter – recovered from a bad start and beat Wolverhampton 3-1. The visiting team took the lead with a goal from the Brazilian Cunha, after a bad exit from the rival defenders, but in the last stretch of the match Aston Villa turned it around with goals from Ollie Watkins, Ezri Ngoyo and the Colombian Jhon Durán.
Chelsea, with Enzo Fernández, got into the fight for the top spot by beating West Ham 3-0 with goals from Nicolas Jackson, twice, and Cole Palmer. Meanwhile, Manchester United, with Lisandro Martínez and Alejandro Garnacho, wasted a good opportunity to get closer, by drawing 0-0 in their visit to Crystal Palace.
The other matches played on Saturday saw the following results: Fulham 3-Newcastle 1; Tottenham 3-Brentoford 1; Southampton 1-Ipswich Town 1 and Leicester 1-Everton 1. The matchday will continue on Sunday with the matches Brighton-Nottingham Forest and Manchester City-Arsenal.
