Without a club since leaving PSG last season, Mauricio Pochettino may see the end of the tunnel. According to the English media The Athletic, confirmed by its Spanish counterpart Marca, the Argentine coach would hold the rope to sit on the bench of the moribund Chelsea.

The former PSG coach would have been preferred to other names in football, who were in the running to take over the English club. The names of Luis Enrique, Vincent Kompany or Julian Nagelsmann, recently dismissed from his duties at Bayern Munich, have circulated.

If Pochettino would have been retained by Todd Boehly, the president of Chelsea, it is first of all for his knowledge of English football. Before arriving at PSG, the South American had coached a Southampton season (2013-2014) and five Tottenham seasons (2014-2019). Significant passages since Pochettino had notably enabled the Londoners to climb to the final of the Champions League in 2019.

At 51, Pochettino will most likely find a club and return to England. An agreement could even be found within the week.
