Visits by Mayor I. Doumos to seven selected parking lots in Paralia and the Olympic coast
Municipal lands of Beach and her Olympic Beach that are already used for vehicle parking as well as spaces that can be configured appropriately for this purpose during the summer tourist season, the Mayor of Katerinis visited, Ioannis Dumos.
As the Mayor stated after the tour, “The objective of the Municipal Authority and the Municipal Company “Polis S.A. (formerly Municipal Parking)” is the formation of old and new parking spaces with the aim of further decongesting the center of Paralia and Olympic Beach from vehicles as well as facilitating transit and parking tens of thousands of local and foreign visitor vehicles on our beach front during the summer season».
TOURING THE PARKING SPACES
During the tour of the parking lots, Mr. Dumo were accompanied by the President of “Polis SA” (former Municipal Parking)”, George Balaourasthe Deputy Mayor of Communities, Christos Boyatzisthe Special Assistant to the Mayor, Charalambos Fokaidisthe Technical Consultant / Civil Engineer, Dr. Vasilios Athanasiouas well as service factors.
In Paralia, visits and autopsies took place:
a) in the area next to the stadium, where a new 70-space parking lot has been built by Municipal Parking and is almost ready to operate,
b) also, a visit was made near the stadiums to an area that is going to be properly designed (buses are already parked there),
c) a visit was also made to an area in front of the Naval Club, which must be renovated after consultation with the Port Fund, given that a part of it belongs to the LT,
d) on the Olympic Coast, specifically from the pr. EDEM hotel until the City Plan, a site was visited which is already used for parking but which needs to be properly configured,
e) also in Olympiaki Akti, the Mayor and his colleagues visited another site located south of the settlement. This is an area that is already used as a parking area but that needs to be properly configured,
f) in an area to the left of the main street of Paralia, near the tennis sports facilities where it is used as a parking area and can be upgraded to comfortably serve tourists and visitors
g) finally, a visit was also made to an area outside the city plan of Paralia, an area of 50 acres, which, however, needs to be done with the appropriate works, so that it can be used for parking tourist buses. In the past, the site had been cleaned, studies had been prepared, but it must be included in some program since the project is worth approximately one million euros.
As explained by the President of “Polis SA (former Municipal Parking)”, George Balaouras«the configuration improvements of some of the parking areas that had started, will continue on our beach front, in order to facilitate, under constantly better conditions, our thousands of visitors to Paralia and Olympic Beach».
It should be noted that from the side of the Company “Polis S.A. (former Municipal Parking of Katerini)”, the utilization of old and new spaces will be done in cooperation with all the relevant agencies and services (Port Fund, Technical Services, Property Department, Urban Planning Department).
