(24 News) The Saudi authorities have completed all the preparations for the replacement of the cover of the Kaaba on 1 Muharram 1446 AH. The work of changing the cover of the Kaaba is carried out by 159 technicians and craftsmen. It takes 3 to 4 hours to remove the wrap and replace it with a new wrap completely on the Kaaba Sharif.
According to foreign media, more than 200 people work on the preparation of the cover of the Kaaba in the King Abdulaziz Kiswah Complex. All these people participate in the different stages of the preparation of the cover. And it runs on a computer system used to perform other functions of the Kaaba. 1000 kg of raw silk is used to prepare the cover of the Kaaba, which is dyed black inside the complex.
In terms of fabric production, the complex has state-of-the-art jacquard machines, while other machines produce black silk for embroidery of Quranic verses, verses and prayers, and plain silk with printed verses such as gold and silver. Threads are also used for tensioning.
120 kg of gold and 100 kg of silver thread are used for covering Kaaba.
Materials used in every process of cover manufacturing are thoroughly tested.There is also a material testing laboratory.
