UNESCO Representative List”/>
Work has been carried out to inventory and certify historical and cultural monuments across the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, with the identification of potential candidates for restoration. Proposals have been submitted to UNESCO for the inclusion of various historical and cultural monuments in the Representative List of Material Cultural Heritage.
One such monument is “Gemigaya” in the Ordubad region, identified for potential inclusion in the UNESCO Tentative List of Material Cultural Heritage.
To gather information for this potential listing, from August 2 to 6, 2024, Dr. Malahat Farajeva, a teacher at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, Doctor of Historical Sciences, member of the Board of Directors of the CARP-PRAT organization under the Council of Europe, and Director of the Paleoart Research Center of the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was sent to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
She visited the “Gemigaya” territory and collected information regarding rock paintings, the natural resources of the area, and the landscape.
