Prepared for a ceasefire in Ukraine? The dramatic statement of the Kremlin spokesman

by time news

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said tonight (Thursday) that Russia had suffered “significant losses” in Ukraine, which was invaded by its troops on February 24. The invasion earned Russia the nickname “Special Military Operation.”

“We have significant casualties,” Peskov said in an interview with British Sky News, “and this is a huge tragedy for us,” he added. According to the UN, more than a thousand civilians were killed in the war.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said on March 25 that 1,351 Russian soldiers had been killed since the beginning of the campaign, and 3,825 wounded. German Chancellor Olaf Schultz said two days later that at least 10,000 Russian soldiers had apparently been killed.

Earlier tonight, Russia was suspended from the UN Human Rights Commission after 93 countries voted in favor of the move, including the State of Israel.
