Mangalore: The Karnataka Education Department has taken action against a government school in Mangaluru for providing prayer facilities. Prior to this, an explanation was sought from the school principal. The notice was sent by the Karnataka Education Department to the Kadaba Government School in Mangalore. The notice points out why the school has set up a prayer facility. The notice sought an immediate explanation from the school principal. But the school management explained that the vacant class was facilitated for Friday prayers. The school authorities have been providing this facility to Muslim students for years and classes have not been disrupted due to this.

However, the education department said that the prayer facility was set up without the permission of the district education department and that it was an unnecessary move. Students wearing hijab in Bidar were not allowed to appear for the exams at the private nursing college. The students protested in front of the college. The students are preparing to go to court against the college. Pictures, home addresses and mobile numbers of girls responding to the hijab ban have been widely circulated on social media. It is alleged that BJP MLA Raghupathi Bhatt and PU College principal Rudra Gowda leaked the girls’ details. The parents lodged a complaint with the Udupi SP alleging political conspiracy and action.
