Abu Dhabi: Ferro, the maker of chocolate, has announced that it is withdrawing Kinder Surprise chocolate in the UAE and Qatar amid reports of suspected presence of Salmonella bacteria. The presence of bacteria is suspected in a factory that makes kinder chocolates. But the company confirmed that no cases of Salmonella have been reported in Kinder Surprise chocolates in the UAE and the Gulf region. Kinder Surprise is a chocolate made by the Italian company Ferrero.
‘Consumer safety is a top priority for Ferrero. Ferrero-Gulf reassures GCC customers that it has not reported the presence of Salmonella in any of its GCC products, despite reports from Europe that it has reported the presence of Salmonella in its Kinder products manufactured at the Belgian factory, the company said in a statement.
Ferrero is manufactured in eight factories and only one of all GCC products manufactured in Belgium – the Large Kinder Surprise MaxiCi 100 GR. ‘As a precautionary measure, it has decided to withdraw special batches of the Kinder Surprise MaxiCi 100 GR product manufactured at the Ferro Gulf Belgium factory, which expires on October 1, 2022. Special batches of this product are being withdrawn in Qatar and the UAE, ”the company said in a statement.
The decision did not affect Ferrero’s other products, including Kinder products. Ferrero added in a statement that it is contacting retailers to ensure that the withdrawn product is not available in the market and that it should not be used if you receive this particular product.
