During a meeting organized at the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences Rabat-Agdal in the presence of an audience of academics and students, Mr. Heydt shared with the audience the areas covered in his book and which reflect the view that this Franco-Swiss academic and writer has on today’s Morocco, in particular the various political, economic and social projects and reforms.
Mr. Heydt, also a member of the Scientific Council of the Observatory of Geopolitical Studies, recalled that this book was published as part of the twentieth anniversary of the accession of His Majesty the King to the Throne of His glorious ancestors, and aims to highlight Morocco’s role as a regional leader.
The author highlighted the human dimension which lies at the heart of the Sovereign’s vision, evoking the Royal Speech on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Enthronement of HM King Mohammed VI which highlights “the greatness and the importance of Royal ambitions for Moroccans”.
“Twenty years later, the result is there,” he said, noting that the many achievements accomplished over the last two decades draw their essence from the first speeches delivered by the Sovereign who charted the path for the development of the Kingdom. .
In the space of two decades, Morocco, which has evolved by at least two generations, has become a center of international interest, noted Mr. Heydt.
For his part, the director of the Cooperation and Partnership Center at the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans living abroad, Fouad Benmakhlouf, highlighted the work carried out by Mr. Heydt on the evolution that Morocco is experiencing in terms of economic, social and environmental.
This work, which traces the evolution of Morocco under the reign of HM King Mohammed VI, was presented in several Moroccan universities, notably the Mohammed Premier University of Oujda, the Hassan II Ain Chock-Casablanca University and the Mohammed V University of Rabat, he noted.
In a statement to MAP, Mr. Benmakhlouf indicated that Mr. Heydt plans to publish in 2024 a new work on the progress made in the southern provinces of Morocco, at the end of research which will continue until December 21.
“Mohammed VI, the vision of a King: actions and ambitions” is a 181-page book, which is divided into 8 chapters: “social reforms”, “advanced regionalization”, “the prerequisite for advanced status”, ” the operational phase”, “economic achievements”, “major projects” and “Morocco and its international environment”.
Doctor in comparative education sciences from the University of Lyon and graduate in European political studies from the University of Paris, Mr. Heydt is a university teacher, associate researcher at the Migration Research Center of Mohammed I University of Oujda and member of the Center for Studies and Strategic Foresight. The author also chaired the Executive Committee of the North-South Center of the Council of Europe in Lisbon.
