The rotating presidency of the PA-UfM was entrusted to Spain at the end of the 17th plenary session of this Assembly, in which parliamentarians from more than 42 UfM member countries took part.
Speaking on this occasion, the President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain and Vice-President of the AP-UfM, Francina Armengol, praised the efforts made by Morocco during its presidency of this Assembly, as well as for having hosted the work of this 17th session.
She also reviewed several challenges facing the Euro-Mediterranean region, emphasizing the need to establish peace, reduce economic disparities between North and South, fight against climate change and better manage the issue. migratory.
Ms. Armengol further noted that Spain has worked and will work in consultation with Morocco for regular, orderly and safe migration, adding that the Spanish presidency will share, like the Kingdom, its experience in this area with all the countries of the Euro-Mediterranean region, the ultimate goal being to make this area a region where justice, economic prosperity and social cohesion reign.
The work of this session, preceded by the 8th Summit of Presidents of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, was culminated by the presentation and adoption of the recommendations and proposals of the Commissions and the Working Group on procedures and finances of the Assembly, in addition to the adoption of the reports and recommendations of the committees.
These meetings were also an opportunity to examine the situation in the Mediterranean region and the role of the Assembly in Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the 21st century.
