After being warmly welcomed on his arrival in Conakry the day before, the President of the Union of the Comoros and Chairman-in-Office of the African Union, His Excellency Mr. Azali Assoumani, was received this Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Mohamed V Palace by the President of the Transition, Head of State, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, for a final interview.
This final meeting took place in the presence of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Dr. Bernard Goumou, the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency, General Amara Camara, the Minister Director of the Presidential Cabinet, Djiba Diakité, the Minister of Foreign Affairs , Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Mory Condé, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Ibrahima Sory Bangoura, and the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie, General Balla Samoura.
The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Dr. Bernard Goumou, had the honor of reading the report of the technical and information meetings with the Comorian delegation during the working stay of His Excellency Azali Assoumani in Guinea. He underlined the warm congratulations and wishes of success addressed by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Transition, Head of State, to his counterpart following his brilliant election at the head of the African Union (AU).
The joint communiqué sanctioning the 24-hour stay in Guinea of His Excellency Azali Assoumani was read by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Guineans Living Abroad, Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté.
In essence, the two Heads of State welcomed the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between Conakry and Moroni. They pledged to give new impetus to these relations within the framework of bilateral cooperation. His Excellency Azali Assoumani also welcomed the inclusive conduct of the transition process, marked by a refounding vision, and gave his support to the legitimate aspirations for development and emergence of the people of Guinea, carried by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Transition.
In return, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, expressed his gratitude to his Comorian counterpart as well as to the African Union for their commitment and support for the stability and development of Guinea. He stressed the importance of African solidarity in the face of the challenges facing the continent, particularly in terms of security, economic development and the fight against climate change.
The current Chairperson of the African Union, His Excellency Azali Assoumani, has promised to lend his full support to Guinea for the success of its transition process, in alignment with the legitimate aspirations of the sovereign people of Guinea.
