The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, referred to the biased news published by an opposition media outlet in reference to the budget for each deputy in the Legislative Assembly.
“I spoke with the president of the Legislative Assembly about the budget allocation to a deputy, the news is biased,” said the president.
Regarding this case, President Bukele explained that budget savings have been generated in the Legislative Assembly because there are now 24 fewer deputies than in the previous legislature.
“I was reading about a topic on social media about budget allocations. They said that $14,000 had been allocated to each deputy and $20,000 to an opposition deputy. This amount of money is for monthly expenses, not as a salary,” the president said.
President Bukele proposed to the president of the First State Body that with the money saved, a $4.5 million Legislative Assembly scholarship program be created to benefit hundreds of young Salvadorans, the future of our country.
“This initiative would not be possible without the savings we have achieved in this State Body with the reduction of deputies and other austerity measures implemented since the beginning of the legislature,” said the President of the Legislative Assembly.
“Always know that this Assembly is at the service of the Salvadorans and will support the creation of a better country for all,” added Ernesto Castro.
