President Evariste Ndayishimiye receives delegations from 10 countries who have come to join forces with young Imbonerakure

These delegations had come to join the young Imbonerakure of the ruling party CNDD FDD on the occasion of the celebration of the day dedicated to them, Imbonerakure-day, for the 8th edition.

During this audience, the Head of State took a good opportunity to present to his guests the overall situation of Burundi, specifying that it is a country also called “Country of a thousand and one hills”, “Heart of Africa”. It is a country that does not receive on its soil any watercourse from outside but rather that irrigates and supplies the different countries and continents through the watercourses of the Congo Basin and that of the Nile.

Burundi, as the Burundian Number One presented it to them, is a country whose history is not well known to all. It was a kingdom with a well-organized power with well-structured institutions. The Burundians made all the iron tools they needed, essential for their military and socio-economic development. The country had a lot of development potential, its population worked a lot, organized itself into a cooperative movement to increase production and led a harmonious life.

Colonization and the various post-colonial periods littered with conflicts mixed with killings every 10 years have plunged the country into a disastrous situation, characterized by a regression on all levels.
It was in 2005, with the advent to power of the CNDD-FDD that the country experienced a reconstruction and a significant economic recovery because Burundian citizens had regained hope for a better and certain tomorrow.

Burundian youth represent more than 60% of the entire population. This is a very dynamic category of the population on which the hope for the development of the country is based. It is also on this category of the population that neocolonialism often relies to destabilize the country and undermine all the efforts of the government to revive the country’s economy. Burundians are currently content with this.

Burundi is currently resilient, financing its budget 100% while it was financed more than 50% from outside in 2015. This reassuring situation has pushed the government to establish a program of economic empowerment and job creation for young people, after setting up a youth bank and another for women in which these beneficiaries easily obtain credits to finance their projects at a relatively affordable rate. This has contributed remarkably to the reduction of unemployment among the majority of Burundian youth. The execution of youth projects having obtained financing within the country is satisfactory, which has contributed to the improvement of the living standards of the majority of the Burundian population.

All these achievements are only possible following the stability that is currently noticeable throughout the country. This same stability has encouraged Burundians to plan and define a vision, a sort of roadmap towards Burundi as an emerging country in 2040 and a developed country in 2060. It is a great achievable project because Burundians know where they come from, where they are and can envisage and plan their future.

Burundians are determined to work and increase production in order to achieve this vision and the government will do everything possible to supervise and guide the population. The hope for a better Burundi of tomorrow is currently visible on the faces of Burundians.

While wishing a pleasant stay to the various delegations who came to join the Imbonerakure youth of the CNDD FDD, the Head of State asked those who have the opportunity to visit the interior of the country to see for themselves the situation that Burundians are experiencing.
