President John Dramani Mahama commissioned four newly appointed Ghanaian envoys at Jubilee House in Accra on Friday, October 16, directing them to prioritize economic diplomacy, safeguard the welfare of citizens abroad, and champion national development goals across international postings in Angola, Qatar, Israel, and Switzerland.

President Mahama emphasized that their assignments extend far beyond traditional representation in a rapidly changing international environment.

Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo and the Angola Bilateral Agenda

Assigned as Ambassador to the Republic of Angola, Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo enters her post with specific directives to expand trade and strengthen long-standing ties between the two nations. President Mahama noted that cooperation with Angola would be crucial as Ghana prepares to assume the chairmanship of the African Union in 2027, charging her to sustain international attention on the issue of reparatory justice.

Louis Kwame Obeng and Labour Mobility in Qatar

For the State of Qatar, incoming Ambassador Louis Kwame Obeng was tasked with overseeing the effective implementation of a bilateral labour-mobility agreement. Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable and Diplomatic Relations With Israel

Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable takes up her post in Israel with a portfolio spanning technological cooperation, agricultural development, water management, education, and health. At the same time, President Mahama used the appointment to reiterate Ghana’s foreign policy stance on the Middle East conflict, stating that the nation supports a viable two-state solution.

In carrying out your responsibilities, you must remain clear about Ghana’s position on Palestine; we recognise the sovereign State of Palestine and support a viable two-state solution in which Israel and Palestine will live side by side in peace and security within internationally recognised and secure borders.

Beyond regional diplomacy, the ambassador was directed to advance discussions on a proposed Labour Mobility Agreement between Ghana and Israel while protecting the rights, welfare, and workforce requirements of qualified Ghanaian doctors.

Jedidiah Reuben Adogla and Multilateral Governance in Geneva

This multilateral engagement carries added weight following Ghana’s re-election to the Human Rights Council for the 2027–2029 term. The envoy must help translate the confidence that had been placed in the country into constructive service on the Council.

Economic Diplomacy and Flagship Domestic Policies

Throughout the commissioning ceremony, the President tied international postings directly to domestic economic strategies, noting that missions must identify investors whose interests align with Ghana’s development goals. Envoys were urged to support flagship initiatives including the 24-hour Economy policy and the Big Push infrastructure programme.

The diplomatic corps was similarly briefed on Ghana’s push for local value addition and industrialisation across critical sectors, alongside the nation’s application for partnership with the BRICS countries to broaden development partnerships and deepen South-South cooperation.
