On the menu of their exchanges are among others the strengthening of bilateral relations between Burundi and Ethiopia, the peace process in Sudan and the opening of an Ethiopian representation in Burundi.

“As Chairman-in-Office of the EAC, we are concerned about the situation prevailing in Sudan and which impacts the entire region and we congratulate you for your efforts committed in Sudan for the restoration of peace”, declared the President Ndayishimiye who also hinted that Burundi is willing to share its experience of a country that has succeeded in stabilizing peace.

The President of the Republic of Burundi has also indicated that he condemns the use of force but that he advocates dialogue for the resolution of conflicts.

Concerning the opening of an Ethiopian embassy in Burundi, the President of the Republic welcomed this giant step taken in diplomatic relations between Burundi and Ethiopia and promised that, for his part, Burundi would not will spare no effort to strengthen these relations.
