The saga is over, at least for now. Killian Ambape will sign a contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain until 2025, according to reports today (Saturday) across Europe, and now some of the details are being revealed behind the scenes. Ambape is expected to receive a significant sum, which could reach up to half a billion euros, as part of the contract.
Ambape told Florentino Perez directly that he would stay in Saint-Germain via text message, and he did so after agreeing terms with Real Madrid. Paris significantly increased its offer and even involved the Emir of Qatar and the President of France.
Ambape is expected to announce the decision tonight before or after the game. Real Madrid were willing to give Ambape Luca Modric’s number 10 shirt, but Modric would keep it. Ambape rejected Real in 2017 and is now doing so once again, on a two-year extension with an option for another year.
The Blancos offered Ambape 100% of his image rights, but eventually chose Paris Saint-Germain. The only player to receive a similar offer is Cristiano Ronaldo, for whom it was only 60%. The image rights give him the profit from the sale of shirts and additional merchandise.
