Briefing on law and order situation

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah welcomed President Asif Ali Zardari on his arrival at the Chief Minister’s House and while giving a briefing to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on the law and order situation in Sindh, said that the operation against street crime in Karachi and bandits in Kacha area. Briefing on the elimination of street crime and operation against robbers

President Asif Ali Zardari was briefed by DG Rangers and IG Police regarding the eradication of street crime and operation against robbers and said that the number of crimes was recorded in the first 4 months of this year which is 5 thousand 259 which is 2023. During the same period of 2018, there was a decrease of 172 cases, 5 thousand 357, in 2024, there were 10 thousand 757 cases on property disputes, while in 2023, their number was 9 thousand 782, which increased by 975 cases. Local and special law cases were 9 thousand 40 in which there was a decrease of 785 cases.

The President was further informed that 252.32 street crime cases were reported in January while 251.96 were reported in February, there was a decrease in street crime cases in March and April, 243.35 and 166.2 incidents were reported respectively, 49 out of 48 street crime cases. People lost their lives, 27 of these cases will be traced and 43 accused will be arrested while 13 accused were killed in the encounter. was captured and 9 were killed in the encounter.

The Chief Minister of Sindh while briefing the President said that in 2014, Karachi was ranked sixth in the global crime index, which has fallen to the 82nd position in 2024. In the global crime index, Chicago, America is ranked 39th with a crime index of 66.2. Delhi ranks 74th with a crime index of 59.02, Tehran ranks 81st with a crime index of 59.02 and Karachi ranks 82nd with a crime index of 56.5.

The Chief Minister of Sindh further briefed that there are more crimes than Karachi in the Rank and Crime Index of major cities of the world, while our city is very large in terms of population and area, Sindh Police has taken important steps to control street crime.
