President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Masatsugu Asakawa will take part in COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan.

As Day.Az reported on Thursday with reference to Trend, this was announced during a meeting between Asakawa and Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov within the framework of the annual meeting of the ADB in Tbilisi.

At a meeting with ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa, an exchange of views took place on the current situation and prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and ADB, especially on participation in transport and railway projects.

It was noted that this year will mark the 25th anniversary of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the bank. The bank’s president said that he would visit Azerbaijan on this occasion.

S. Sharifov invited Masatsuga Asakawa on behalf of the Azerbaijani state to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change – COP29. Asakawa accepted the invitation.

At the meeting with the Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutishvili, an exchange of views took place on issues of mutual interest, the importance of cooperation and mutual exchange of experience between the financial institutions of the two countries was noted, and issues of cooperation in international financial organizations were discussed.

S. Sharifov congratulated his Georgian colleague on holding the 57th annual meeting of the ADB Board of Directors at a high level.
