While walking along the sidewalk on Avenida Vieira Souto, the parliamentarian had his scapular – a religious gold chain – ripped off by a 17-year-old young man, who was pretending to be a street vendor.
The young man hid under a truck parked on Rua Prudente de Morais after stealing the object. When faced with the agents of the Present Security project, the boy tried to swallow the scapular, but was taken to the 12th Police Station of the capital and the object was returned to the parliamentarian. In the unit, it was found that the attacker had a criminal record.
The deputy “with great satisfaction” thanked the agents and the “efficiency of the Present Security project”. “The police even arrived at the same time, a minute later,” said Maia.
