President of the Republic expresses solidarity with the Congolese people

In a message addressed to his Congolese counterpart, Denis Sassou Nguesso, to which ANGOP had access, João Lourenço expresses solidarity in the face of the tragic incident that killed a significant number of young people in Brazzaville during a recruitment drive for the Congolese army.

“I share, through Your Excellency, the pain of the families of those who lost their lives, to whom I address, in the name of the Executive and myself, our most heartfelt condolences”, reads the message.

The tragedy occurred during a stampede at the Stade Michel d’Ornano, in Brazzaville, where recruitment for the Congo Armed Forces was taking place.

Data from the Congolese authorities show the deaths of around 37 young people. VM
